CREATIVE RESISTANCE INITIATIVES!

All proceeds raised from PROMdemonium go to the PROM Fund, which receives applications from those in the community working for social change.

The PROMdemonium Fund is open to individuals, groups and organizations that challenge the current unjust economic and social systems and work towards social, economic or environmental justice. The Fund offers funding to projects that are often unable to obtain mainstream sources of funding. Our support is directed towards initiatives achieved through advocacy, political action, artistic expression, community organization and other creative actions.

The PROM FUND is thrilled to announce this year's PROMtastic creative resistance initiatives:

POWER (Prostitutes of Ottawa/Gatineau - Work, Educate, Resist)
POWER (Prostitutes of Ottawa-Gatineau Work Educate & Resist) is a non-profit, voluntary organization founded on February 17th, 2008. Membership is open to individuals of all genders who self-identify as former or current sex workers, regardless of the industry sector in which they work(ed) (i.e. dancers, street level workers, in and out call workers, phone sex, etc.) and to allies who share our vision. We envision a society in which sex workers are able to practice their professions free of legal and social discrimination, victimization, harassment and violence and in which sex work is valued as legitimate and fulfilling work making an important contribution to society.

Books to Prisoners Ottawa
B2P-Ottawa is a collective of individuals who do prisoner support and solidarity work. As a group, we focus on providing books and written materials to prisoners. We work to supply books to the Ottawa Jail, several federal prisons, as well as prisoners in Canada and the U.S. We also host public education events and support various legal and political campaigns that aim to undo or disband elements (or all of) the prison industrial complex. We work towards a world where cages are not needed or desired.

Unconditional Love, Unconditional Choice - Reproductive Justice Organizing Retreat
Unconditional Love, Unconditional Choice is a gathering of Reproductive Justice Activists currently in Montréal, Toronto and Ottawa, organizing through decolonization and love. Through community building, we will strategize and organize together against a growing and intrusive anti-choice force that is strong in all of our cities, but especially disturbing when the anti-choice march shlumps onto Ottawa streets every year for mother's day.

The Leveller
The Leveller is an independent, not-for-profit, community newspaper. Our aim is to provide news and analysis in support of those fighting all forms of oppression, including but not limited to racism, sexism, homophobia, and capitalism. Conscious of the power dynamics that affect mainstream news coverage, we focus on giving voice to those marginalized in society and the media. Through the PROMdemonium Fund, the Leveller will be able to produce a special magazine issue to provide more in-depth coverage of underreported issues, while at the same time providing a forum for independent journalists, aspiring writers, and photographers and cartoonists. In addition, each of the other PROMdemonium recipients will receive a free advertisement in the magazine. Those interested in becoming involved with the Leveller are encouraged to contact operations.the.leveller@gmail.com or visit our website (leveller.ca) for more information. Thank you all for this wonderful opportunity.

Organizing for Justice
Organizing for Justice is a collaborative effort of several local groups and individuals, aimed to serve those involved and/or interested in community organizing and activism in the Ottawa-Outaouais region. Our goal is to develop strategy and vision, skills and tools, and networks and relationships, related to the themes of social justice, economic justice, environmental justice and healthy communities.
